Immigration

"KILL THE BASTARDS!" "DEPORT THEM!" "THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!" My father used to love to tell me, "If they come in one time, deport 'em. If they come in a second time, shoot them on sight...." Now, I don't think that's very noble of him. In fact, I think it's downright mean. But it's not like us Americans aren't bloodthirsty anyway. Just look at the wars we engage in. They're not even wars. They're invasions. We are the takers. Here is my opinion: We want impoverished people to come into our country and do the difficult work so we don't have to. We have hypocritically made laws preventing their ability to come in. Once they are here, we don't enforce the laws and let them stay. This acts like a bludgeon against the working class. "If you ever get out of line, I'll just call somebody and have you deported." So how do we change? The best way to change is to take responsibility for your ...

Racist Bigotry or Loving Response to Aggression

This morning I walked to the Harold Washington Library. On my way to my favorite computer, I passed by someone I knew from a homeless shelter I was staying at called Pacific Garden Mission. He then got someone else to help him while accusing the previous staff member of racism. He was continually vocal about the incident and people around him could hear him. During these moments, I found it impossible to continue writing. I felt that he was disturbing me. At one point, I started talking to him to address this. He told me to mind his own business. He accused me of being a cop and of being a faggot. He threatened m...

If I were King of America

Government Services A 25% Sales Tax on all goods and services would be levied and all other taxes abolished. Social Security, Medicare, and Veterans Services would be abolished. Every child until age 5 would be fed and sheltered. Every person disabled from birth will be fed and sheltered. Every person would be encouraged to work with additional support provided to children aged 5 years or older and the disabled. The National Debt would be paid swiftly and the books balanced yearly. The goal of removing all forms of forced taxation would be made. Citizens will be asked to donate money to the government of their own free will and by their own generosity and ability. When enough money comes into the government regularly in this way, the sales tax will be abolished. The amount and quality of government services will be commensurate to the resources offered by the public. America would move from a contract/price-based economy to a desire/gift-based economy. Child-Rearing It is the resp...
