The use of plastics on the earth is stifling natural systems. Instead of waiting for corporations to change, it is incumbent on consumers to demand products with less plastic and to use plastic less.
But another thing that manufacturers can do is use plastic that is biodegradable. I am not an expert but I understand that plastic can be made from hemp and plants in such a way that it is less harmful to the environment when improperly disposed.
Really there are a lot of issues here. Why don't I list them?
1. We could use plastic less
2. We could buy products with less plastic packaging
3. We could make plastic that is biodegradable
As far as making plastic more biodegradable, we would have to look at how we use plastic. Manufacturers probably know more about plastic usage than we do. Plastic forms not only the outside of a set of razor blades, but also the handle that it sits on. Then there is the packaging of the shaving razors. Differently, we have the plastic that is used to panel a car such as the glove box.
So there are heavy plastics and light plastics.
The plastics used in a car we wouldn't want to decompose so quickly. Meanwhile, the plastic that we use for packaging ought to decompose faster.
Now it's time to put another item on our list.
4. We shouldn't let stocks sit for so long
Whether it's food or razor blades, why do we stockpile items that people could be using? One reason is for fear of emergencies. But emergencies would occur less if we treated each other better. For instance, if people across the world decided that war is never ok, that would change the dynamic in the world significantly. That is an issue of love.
Where do we see stockpiles of anything in the natural environment? Squirrels come to mind. They stock their nuts up. But I think that is just over the course of a season. We shouldn't really have to keep things longer than a few months in a warehouse.
But why do we? Well, that is an issue of love as well. If people cared less for profit and more about bringing legitimate products and services for the use of their fellow sisters and brothers, we would care less about working the market to insure gains. In the process, people would appreciate what we would do more. And those that don't want to take advantage and have no gratitude need to be handled differently. They must be educated. If people have an addiction to have things handed to them for free without any contribution on their part or even a feeling of appreciation from them, we shouldn't feed that addiction by giving them what they want.
